Raye Marie Scott,
BS, Nutrition
My nutrition journey started when I was 18 years old when I was told I have extremely high cholesterol and needed to start watching what I was eating. Although I wasn’t over weight, the high cholesterol was genetic, but something I could control with my diet since I was so young. At the time I lived off of chicken fingers, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and pretzels. I was a very picky eater and the only vegetable I would ever go near was a carrot.
After being told my cholesterol was almost 300, I decided to start reading up on low cholesterol diets to see how I could lower my cholesterol. I decided to go full vegan where I was forced to eat vegetables I wouldn’t even go near in the past. Becoming a vegan and dealing with high cholesterol at such a young age opened up my eyes to a whole new healthier lifestyle.
During this process of changing my eating habits, I was entering college where I decided to take a level one Nutrition course to see if maybe this was the path that I was going to want to follow. I immediately drew a great interest in my nutrition course and decided at that moment to declare my major and I never looked back.
Since graduating college I have worked with over 100 clients focusing on their individual goals. I have helped people lose weight, put on muscle and make an overall shift to a healthy lifestyle. I have also continued my education since graduating and have become certified in Functional Diagnostic Nutrition. Learning how to heal the body through nutrition has become my biggest passion and I look forward to continuing to help others.
